Mrs. Lorenz Passes Away

The funeral of Mrs. Anna Lorenz widow of the late J. H. Lorenz was held from the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. A. Mall on Sunday afternoon, January 23rd at one fifteen o'clock. Interment was made in the family lot in Oak Hill cemetery. Mr. and Mrs Frank Mall of Tripoli, Ia., the former a grandson. Mrs. Herman Griendler of Everly, Iowa, and Mrs. Wm. Scheetz of Spencer attended the funeral.
Anna Christine Detlefs was born in Germany, August 13th, 1833. She came to America in June 1862 and was married to John H. Lorenz, October 30th of the same year, at Davenport, Iowa.
They lived in Scott county, Iowa for two years and came to Benton county In September 1864 where they resided until the death of her husband which occured in December 1907. Since that time she has made her home with her children until the time of her death, which occured on Friday, January 21 at 7:30 o’clock a. m. after an illness of several weeks which was the result of the infirmities of age.
She was preceded in death by two sons, John who died in 1920 and Henry in 1924. She is survived by three children, Mrs. W. A. Mall and Herman Lorenz of this city and Mrs. J. H. Typer of Polo, Ill. There are also 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren surviving her.
