Pioneer of Benton County Is Called to Reward January 26 - Was Long Resident.

Jochim Kuhl, one of Benton county’s pioneer residents, passed away Friday, January 26. He was stricken with apoplexy on the 24th and never regained consciousness.

Funeral services were held from the home five miles north west of town the following Monday with Rev. Francke of Keystone in charge of the services. Interment was made in the Keystone cemetery.

Jochim Kuhl was born near Krempe, Holstein, Germany, on the 8th of August, 1848. He came to America in 1867 and took up his residence Davenport where he lived until 1870 when he came to Benton county. He remained on the same farm from then to the time of his death.

In March 1878 he was united in marriage to Anna Breiholz who, with the children still survives. To this union were born six children; Henry, Albert. Frank and Lulu who live at home, Herman who lives near here and Mrs. Rosa Schoelerman who lives north of Keystone. Besides the immediate family he leaves to mourn his death three brothers, one sister and seven grandchildren. Two brothers, Marcus and Henry reside near Manning and the sister still resides in Germany.

Mr. Kuhl was a man of excellent character, a sturdy farmer whose long life of usefulness has left its to linger long among those with whom he came in contact. A host of friends extend their heartfelt sympathy to the grief stricken family.
