I. C. Kolsto Funeral to be Held Saturday

NEWHALL -- Funeral services for I. C. Kolsto, 78, who died Wednesday after a long illness, will be conducted Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the home and at 2 o'clock in the Benton Lutheran church near Norway by the Rev. W. Valen. Burial will be in the Lutheran cemetery at Norway.
Mr. Kolsto is survived by four children, Mrs. Clara Steffenson of Vinton, Mrs. G. J. Ronan of Des Moines, Norman of Cedar Rapids and Martin of Newhall; three brothers, Swen of Cedar Rapids, Knute of Atkins and Lars of Newhall; a sister, Mrs. Jacob S. Jacobsen of Cedar Rapids; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Among the survivors, obit fails to mention his widow Karen Sophia Swenson Kolsto whom he married in 1889. She died in 1948. }

Newhall, April 21 -- Mrs. Sophia Kolsto, 77, widow of the late I. C. Kolsto, died at her home here Tuesday night after a short illness.
Mrs. Kolsto was born in Norway Feb. 5, 1871 and came to America at the age of 13. She lived in Norway, Ia., until her marriage to I. C. Kolsto Jan. 5, 1888. They farmed near Newhall until 1938 when they moved to town. Mr. Kolsto died June 24, 1942.
Surviving are four children: Martin Kolsto of Newhall, Norman Kolsto of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Clara Steffenson of Vinton and Mrs. G. J. Ronan of Des Moines; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Four sisters, Mrs. Minnie Jacobsen of Bremerton, Wash. and Mrs. Christine Jacobsen of Tacoma, Wash; and two sisters living in Norway also survive.
Funeral arrangements were incomplete, awaiting word from the sisters in Washington.
