Body Found in Pool at the County Home
James Hutton
Cedar Rapids, Aug. 2 - Coroner David King was called to the county home yesterday morning to investigate the drowning of James Hutton, whose body was found in a pond on the county farm about 8 o'clock. Mr. Hutton was a sufferer from heart trouble and Monday was nearly crazed with pain. He was missed from his room Monday night about 10 o'clock and search was made all day but the body was not found until Thursday. It is supposed that he went from his room to the pond and drowned himself to get relief from the pain he was suffering.
Mr Hutton was an old soldier, having been a wagoner in the civil war. He was born in Baltimore, Md. and lived for many years in Blairstown, where he was married.
He is survived by three children, two daughters living in Missouri and the son in Minnesota. He had no relatives here. He worked for Mr. Rogers near Fairfax for about nine years and was employed by Veterinary J. W. Griffith in this city for about five years. He was a very honest and intelligent man and greatly like by those who knew him. The body was brought to the Beatty undertaking parlors in this city.
