Sarah Hunt
Sarah Bunten was born Dec. 27, 1849, in Ripley county, Indiana, and died June 12, 1912.
When about 15 years of age she came with her parents to make her home in Iowa, locating near Prairie Creek, Benton county.
She confessed faith in Christ at the age of 17 years and kept her faith in Him until the day of her death. Because of her feebleness she was unable to attend church regularly.
She was married to Giles Hunt in September, 1871, and to this union were born five children, Annie, Walter, Earnest, Nellie and Virgil. Only one son, Walter E. Hunt is living, the rest having died early in youth. Her husband, Giles Hunt, died May 11, 1906.
Beside her son, Walter and his wife, Pearl, she is survived by three brothers, James Bunten, Morten Bunten and John Bunten of Prairie Creek, and three sisters, Elizabeth Warriner of Prairie Creek, Jane Harper of Topeka, Kansas, and Rachel Pemberton of Vinton.
Her home for the past five years has been at Mt. Auburn, Iowa. Funeral services were held Friday, conducted by Mr. Fisher of Mt. Auburn and Mr. Noah of Prairie Creek. Internment in Bear Creek cemetery.
