Mrs. H. T. Holck Good Pioneer Mother Passes to Her Reward--Funeral Tuesday
Mrs. H. T. Holck
Dorothy Schroeder was born in Germany, June 20, 1834. She was married March 29, 1852, to H. T. Holck in Holstein, and the same year the young couple came to America and located in Davenport, Iowa. Later they moved to Illinois and engaged in farming. In 1876 they came to Benton County where they have since lived. Since 1888 they have made their home in Vinton. The funeral was held on Tuesday Rev. McLane officiating. Those of the family present were: Mr. and Mrs. H. T. Holck, Grundy Center; H. T. Holck, Iowa Falls; Thos. Holck, Grundy Center; J. S. Holck, Cedar Rapids; C. F. Holck and wife, Lake Wilson, Minn; Mrs. and Mrs. C. A. Traer, Cardiff, Ill; Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Schlotfeldt and sons, La Porte City; Mr. and Mrs. A. Schlotfeldt, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Kahler, Mr. and Mrs. J. Frahm, all of La Porte, Henry Holck, of Cedar township, and Mrs. Henry Wiese of Davenport. Mrs. Holck was greatly loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed, not only by the family but by a large circle of friends.
