Afkalene Hessenius

Vinton — Mrs. John Hessenius, 76, at the Virginia Gay hospital in Vinton following a brief illness; born in Germany on July 17, 1868; in 1892 she was married and a year later came to America, settling in New York City until the family moved to Benton county; in 1929 they moved to Vinton where Mr. Hessenius died in 1941; leaves seven sons and two daughters, Herman, John and Elmer, all of Vinton; Dick, Laurens; Mrs. Martin Alpers, Fairbury, 111.; Anton, Henry and Mrs. Hans Petersen, Van Horn; 37 grandchildren and six great grandchildren; a brother and two sisters, Claus Behrens, Toddville; Mrs. Alarich Geiken, Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Eric Henkle, Vinton, and Mrs. Henry Wieben, Dysart; funeral at 2 p. m. Sunday at Trinity Lutheran church; burial in Evergreen cemetery.
