Charles R. Fagan
Vinton — Charles R. Fagan, 78, resident of Vinton 57 years, Wednesday of complications; born May 26, 1872, to Mr. and Mrs. Robert Fagan in Chicago; came to Benton county, Iowa, when 10 years old with his parents and grew to manhood on a farm near Mt Auburn; came to Vinton in 1893 to learn his trade of a tinner and furnace man; was in the hardware business here for a number of years with the late S. F. Parzybok and John Houlihan under the firm name of the Iowa Hardware Co.: was employed for 10 years by the Iowa Canning Co. at the local plant and for 17 years owned and operated a suburban grocery near his home; retired in 1944, but later served as Vinton assessor for three years; leaves widow and the following brothers and sisters: E. R. Fagan, Alhambra. Cal; H. H. Fagan, Vinton; O. C. Fagan, Temple City, Cal.; Hal J. Fagan, Jackson Heights, N. Y.; Mrs. Mabel Loveland, Wooster, O.; Mrs. Seth Witton, Vancouver, B. C.; and Mrs. D. G. Mullan, Odebolt; services tentatively set for Friday at 2 p. m. in the Fry-Holland funeral home; burial in Evergreen cemeterv.
