Henry Emanuel, Norway Senior Citizen, Dies
Henry Emanuel

Henry Emanuel, 91, one of the oldest residents of Norway, died at his home early Friday morning, July 1. The son of Nicklaus and Mary Jutte Emanuel, he was born Mar. 27, 1886 in Iowa county. He married Veronica Brecht Feb. 18, 1908 at St. Michael's Catholic church, Norway. They farmed for many years before moving to Norway, where they operated a restaurant for several years

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Ralph, in 1962; three grandchildren; two brothers, Louis and Charles; two sisters, Mary Walter and Kate Hasley

Surviving are his wife, two sons, Clarence and Richard, Norway; four daughters, Mrs. Eldred (Lila) Brecht, and Mrs. Mary Boddicker, Norway; Mrs. Albert (Erma) Stallman, Fairfax; Mrs. Leone Kraft, Van Horne; 30 grandchildren, 67 great-grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren

Funeral services were at St. Michael's Catholic church, Norway, at 10 a.m. Monday, July 4, with the Rev. Robert J. Saunders officiating. Burial was in St. Michael's cemetery, Norway

Pallbearers were grandsons, Ralph Emanuel, Rick Emanuel, Eldon Brecht, Gary Brecht, Richard Boddicker and Robert Boddicker

Organist was Bonnie Brecht. Mass servers were great-grandsons, Tim, Randy and Greg Brecht, Robbie and Dean Schulte, Scott and Wayne Boddicker. Ushers were Ralph Schulte and David Volz. George Brosh was in charge of services.

NICH. EMANUEL OF NORWAY DIES; RITES THURSDAY
Nicholas Emanuel

NORWAY. - Nicholas Emanuel, 82, died of pneumonia and old age complications Tuesday afternoon at his home here. He had lived in this vicinity and in Norway for sixty-eight years. Funeral rites will be held Thursday at 9:30 a.m. in St. Michael's Catholic church. Burial will be in the cemetery at the church.

Mr. Emanuel was born in Germany, Aug. 8, 1852, and came to America at the age of fourteen years. He was married here in March, 1875, to Mary Jutte. She died five years ago. After farming in this community, Mr. and Mrs. Emanuel located in Norway thirty-five years ago. Mr. Emanuel worked at his trade of a blacksmith.

Three sons and two daughters living are: Louis and Henry Emanuel of Norway, Charles Emanuel of Walford, Mrs. Mary Walters of Amana, and Mrs. Kate Hasley of Walford. There are 24 grandchildren and three great grandchildren in the family.
