Wilbur Elson, 62, Dies in Iowa City; Rites to be Sunday

Wilbur (Sandy) Elson, 62 died Thursday evening in Veterans Hospital in Iowa City. Mr. Elson was retired, but had been employed at one time in the Benton County Treasurer's office in Vinton for a number of years.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Fry and Holland Funeral Home in Vinton with the Rev. George W. Koch officiating. There will be military rites at the grave in Oakwood Cemetery in Shellsburg. Friends may call at the funeral home after 1:00 p.m. Saturday.
Mr. Elson was born in Shellsburg December 2, 1897, a son of Albert A. and Mahala Meskimen Elson. He was married at Baraboo, Wisconsin on Feb. 21, 1928 to Helen Ruhland, who survives. Other survivors include a sister Mrs. Clifford Spurgeon of Shellsbug and two brothers, Ralph of Cedar Rapids and Dr. R. E. Elson of Vinton.
