James S. DuFresne
James S. DuFresne, farmer living northeast of town, died unexpectedly at 5 o'clock Friday morning at his home. He was born near Urbana, December 20, 1884, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. George DuFresne. Was married to Miss Eva Trego, February 7,1912 near Vinton. They farmed in Benton Co. the past twenty years near Mt Auburn. He was a member of the Mt Auburn Methodist church and served on the board of trustees several years, also was a Director of Cedar No. 5 school for several years. Surviving are his widow, three daughters, Mrs. Clarence Jacobsen, LaPorte City, Mrs. Marvin Hamilton, Hawthorne, Calif. and Mrs. Darrell Gage of Cedar Rapids, four grandchildren, six great grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Leon Bickel of Vinton and two brothers, Chester DuFresne of Mt Auburn and Earl DuFresne of Vinton. A daughter, Evelyn Jean and a brother Arthur DuFresne preceded him. Funeral services will be at 1:30 P.M. Tuesday at the Mt Auburn Methodist church with burial in the family lot at Shellsburg. The body will be brought to the church that morning from the Fry-Holland funeral home in Vinton at 10:00. Rev Lee Roy Collins pastor of the church and Rev G.W. Eggleston a former pastor will have charge of the service.

Jeremiah DuFresne
Jeremiah DuFresne, who was sent to the insane hospital for treatment some months ago, died at the hospital Feb.10th, aged 79 years. He was born in St Johns, Canada. He came to Vinton eight or nine years ago. He leaves a wife and two sons George and Frank, and a daughter Mrs. Nelson of Chicago and a daughter at home. Funeral services were held at the Catholic church Saturday and the body was laid to rest in the Catholic cemetery west of town.
