David Solomon Cross Dies at County Home; Was 88 Years Old
David Solomon Cross
David Solomon Cross, 88, died early this morning at the Benton county home of old age and complications. Mr. Cross was born Aug. 11, 1857, in Missouri to Mr. and Mrs. James Cross. He was married at Urbana to Susan Kegley. She preceded him in death.
Mr. Cross came to Benton county 77 years ago and farmed most of his life. He was a member of the Methodist church.
The deceased is survived by a son, George Eugene Cross of Center Point, and a sister, Mrs. Anna Roy of Cedar Rapids. Besides his wife he was preceded in death by an infant son, and a daughter, Bertha Hitchborn of Waterloo, who died in 1944.
Funeral services will be Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Fry- Holland funeral home. The Rev. William E. Butler will be in charge. Burial will be in the Kisling cemetery.

OBITUARY.
Susan Cross
Mrs. Susan Cagley Cross was born March 22, 1854 at Nashua, Chickasaw county, Iowa, a daughter of Jacob and Susan Cagley. She died Sunday, Feb. 10, 1929 at 6:20 a. m. In March, 1885, she moved with her parents to Benton county where she resided the rest of her life. Feb. 15, 1874, she married David S. Cross. To this union three children were born, one dying in infancy.
Surviving are the husband, one daughter, Mrs. Harry Hitchborn of Vinton, and the son, Eugene Cross, of Urbana, seven grandchildren and one great grandson. In 1898 she united with the M. E. church at Center Point. She was an active member as long as health permitted.
