Blairstown Man Died Friday

T. B. Coder Was Resident of Blairstown 30 Years.

Mr. Thos. B. Coder one of the pioneers of the Blairstown community who had lived in or near that place for the past thirty years, passed away at his home there on December 31st, following a period of failing health of the past several months. He had been confined to his bed for two week previous to his death which was the result of heart trouble and complications.

Mr. Coder was a native of Pennsylvania and was born August 13, 1849, and was in his 77th year at the time of his death. He was the son of Daniel and Katherine Coder and was the second child in a family of eleven children.

He came to Iowa with his parents in the year 1857 traveling in a covered wagon. The family settled near Luzerne and made their home their [sic] for a number of years and the remainder of his life Mr. Coder spent in the Blairstown community.

On October 7, 1875 he was united in marriage to Miss Alma Haines at Marengo, Iowa and to them four children were born, namely Willet Coder of Primghar, Iowa, Mrs. Sarah A. Hannen of Cedar Rapids and Charles T. Coder of Clinton, Iowa, one child, Marion Zulema died in infancy.

Besides the aged wife and children Mr. Coder is survived by a brother, Jos. Coder of Laurette, Neb., another brother, Geo. Coder of Blairstown and one sister, Mrs. Cella Stuckenbruck of this city.

The funeral services were held on Sunday, January 2nd at the home with Rev. Miller, pastor of the Presbyterian Church of Blairstown, in charge.

Burial was made in the Blairstown cemetery.

Relatives attending from this city were his sister, Mrs. Stuckenbruck and his niece, Mrs. Robt. Fox.
