Esther Christianson NORWAY - Esther Marie Hamman Dulin Christianson, 88, a resident of Living Center West, Cedar Rapids, formerly Atkins, died of cancer peacefully Friday, December 30, surrounded by her family at Living Center West. Funeral services were Tuesday, January 3, 2005, at Peace United Methodist Church, Norway. Burial was at Norway Cemetery.
Esther Christianson was born April 6, 1917, in Shellsburg, the daughter of Fred and Anna Seltrecht Hamman. She was raised and attended school in Shellsburg. On June 2, 1946, she married Ray Dulin in Vinton. They later divorced. On April 9, 1955, she married Dale Christianson. Esther was employed at Collins Radio and worked as a cook in the Norway School. Esther is survived by her husband of 50 years, Dale; two children, Candy (Ken) Osterhaus, Cedar Rapids, and Dee Anna (Roger) Volz, North Liberty; four grandchildren, Douglas (Tyera) Hess, Cedar Rapids, Dawnette (Brett) Richards, Vinton, Breanne Volz and Barry Volz, North Liberty; two great-grandchildren, Tawny Hess and Lucas Richards; two sisters-in-law, Germaine Dennis, Bettendorf, and Marilyn Perkins, Morton, IL; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Albert Hamman; sister-in-law, Lois Hamman; mother-in-law, Cora Christianson; father-in-law, Gilmer Christianson; and great-great nephew, Ryan Kissner. A memorial fund has been established by the family for Mercy Hospice and Peace United Methodist Church. Brosh Funeral Service, Norway, is in charge of arrangements.
