2 BENTON COUNTY PIONEERS DEAD URBANA, Jan. 16.
Enoch Wilson Casner
E. W. Casner. The funeral of Enoch Wilson Casner, one of the pioneers of this community was held from the Methodist church in this city Sunday. Mr. Casner was born in Tioga county, Pennsylvania, on April 9, 1832. On August 3, 1861, he was married to Elizabeth Lapp who survives him. They came to Urbana at once and have lived in this vicinity since that time. The long journey from Pennsylvania was made by train to Cedar Rapids and by wagon from there to Urbana, or Marysville, as it was then called. Ten children were born to the sturdy couple, five of whom are still living. They are Mrs. Ida Bell of Waterloo, Mrs. Nettie Hall of South Dakota, Mrs. Iona Aurner and Frank Casner of Urbana, and Lizzie Harrison of Lime Springs, Ia. He is also survived by twenty-six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
{Submitter comment: Iona was actually Ione. The 5 children who preceded him in death included 3 small daughters: Alice, Annie, and Mary J. A son Lafayette died at age 22. The remaining child was Belle Casner McCoy. Enoch Casner was a stonemason.}
