Austin A. Blue
Austin A. Blue of Vinton died at the Vinton hospital this morning following a long illness. He was 94. Mr. Blue was born Oct 6, 1868, near Van Horne, a son of John M. and Esther Bentz Blue. He married Emma Hauser at Van Horne April 27, 1899. She died Dec. 5, 1951. They farmed near Van Horne for a number of years, moved to near Cedar Falls, and came to Vinton in 1945. Surviving are three sons, Merle of Prairie Village, Kan., Orlen of Vinton and Donald of Waterloo, one daughter, Mrs. Lee (Dorothy) Griffin of Marion, three grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Elsie Bardo of Lander, Wyo. He was preceded in death by a son, Raymond, who died Aug. 28, 1962, a daughter who died in infancy, five brothers, and three sisters. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m., in the Fry and Holland funeral home. Rev. Fred J. Telecky will officiate. Burial will be in Salem cemetery near Van Horne. Friends may call at the funeral home after 1:00 p.m. Friday.

John Franklin (Frank) Blue
Frank Blue passed away Sunday night at his home in the east part of town after an illness of but a few days with pneumonia. Mr. Blue had not been feeling well for several months but was able to be about and attend his business. The past year he has been in partnership with Ed Cornelius in the meat market. The deceased was about 57 years of age and was a resident of Van Horne for many years. Besides the wife he is survived by two stepdaughters, Mrs. Leo Durr of Williamsburg, Iowa, Mrs. Ray Wallis, Fargo, N. D., two grand- children, two sisters, Mrs Ray Bardo, of Montana, Mrs Charles Young of Cedar Rapids,, and several brothers. Mr. Blue was a faithful member of the Evangelical church and funeral services were conducted at the home Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock and at the church, in charge of Rev. Smith. Interment was in the cemetery three miles south- east of town.

Mr. J. M. Blue, one of our old Benton county pioneers, left for Cedar Rapids about two weeks ago feeling quite well to visit his daughter, Mrs. Chas. Young. After being there a few days he was taken sick and kept getting worse until Monday morning when he passed away at a ripe old age. The funeral was held from the Evangelical church here Thursday morning at 10 o'clock. He leaves to mourn, four sons and two daughters, Mrs. Bardo, formerly of Vinton, now in Dakota, Mrs. Jung, of Cedar Rapids.

Monday morning at 8 o'clock occurred in this city, the death of John M. Blue of Van Horne. He died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Charles H. Young 520 Third Avenue West where he had been visiting during the past few weeks. He was 77 years old. The remains will be taken Tuesday afternoon to his home at Van Horne where the funeral and internment will be held.
