Anna Becker
Van Horne - Funeral services were to be held Tuesday afternoon for Mrs. Herman Becker, who died at the age of 44 in a Cedar Rapids hospital Saturday. Short services will be held at one o'clock at the family home east of Van Horne and at 1:30 at St. Andrew's Lutheran church, in charge of the Rev. William Ullerich. Burial will be in the Lutheran cemetery southeast of here.

Anna Frese Becker
Mrs. Anna F. Becker, 87, Norway, died at Mercy Hospital Friday after a long illness.
Born Jan. 28, 1892, near Watkins, she was married to John C. Becker Jan. 25, 1916. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Norway and the Women's Catholic Order of Foresters.
Surviving are three sons, George, Louis and Wilbert, all of Watkins; five daughters, Mrs. Glenn Boddicker, Mrs. Ralph Houser and Sister Mary Ann Becker, all of Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Clarence Schulte of Norway, and Sister Maryls Becker of Niles, Ill.; 28 grandchildren and 30 great- grandchildren.
Services: 10 a.m. Monday at St. Michael's Catholic Chuch, Norway, by the Rev. Robert Saunders. Burial: St. Michael's Cemetery, Norway. A rosary will be recited at 4:30 p.m. today by the Catholic Order of Foresters. A prayer service will be at 7:30 p.m. at Teahen Funderal Home, where friends may call today from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Arlo J. Becker, Sr., Watkin, 74, retired farmer, died Thursday, June 7, 1979. Funeral services were held Saturday June 9, at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic church in Watkins with Rev. Everett Frese and Rev. Robert Saunders officiating
He was born October 6, 1904 at Watkins, a son of John and Anna Becker and was married to Marie Boddicker on Augst 25, 1926
Surviving in addition to his wife, are six sons, Harold and Ralph, Watkins; Wilford and Arlo, Jr., Atkins; Robert, Norway; Ted, Center Point; and a daughter, Mary Lou, Watkins. Also one sister, Mrs. Evie Boddicker, Newhall; 20 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one grandchild, one great grandchild, three brothers and one sister

Pallbearers were his grandsons, Andy Becker, Dennis Becker, Jim Becker, John Becker, Mike Becker and Ronnie Becker
He was a former member of the Benton county fair board, the Newhall school board, and a third degree member of the Catholic Order of Foresters

Edward Allen Becker
Funeral services for Edward Allen Becker, 46, were Tuesday, April 28, 1998, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Watkins, with Rev. Walter Kleinfehn officiating. Burial was in St. Patrick and St. Paul Cemetery. Becker died Saturday, April 25, 1998, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, from pulmonary fibrosis.
Pallbearers were Al Schminke, Aaron Meyer, Marion Siek, Greg Becker, Rich Less, Dan Schultz, Dennis Brecht, and Terry Harrington. Honorary pallbearers were Tom Becker, Rick Becker, Matt Becker, Gary Becker, Steve Schultz and Mike Schumuecker.
Music was provided by organist, Judy Parizek, and vocalist, Bryce Brecht.
Edward Allen Becker was born September 6, 1951, at Mercy Hospital, Cedar Rapids, the son of Wilbert and Dorothy Thompson Becker. He received his education from Benton Community and Kirkwood Community College. He married Cindy Behaunek on October 7, 1972, at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Newhall. He was a farmer and was a member of the Benton County Pork Producers, and a past board member, a former 4-H leader of the Eldorado Young Master Farmers, and a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy; a daughter, Jenny Brouwer and her husband, Jeff, Dike. a son, Lee Becker, Watkins, and his friend, Deah Schulte; four brothers, Vic Becker and wife, Sue, Alburnett, Bill Becker and wife, JoAnne, Norway, Joe Becker and wife, Susan, Diagonal, and Brian Becker and wife, Rebecca, Keota; three sisters, Sharon Schulte and husband, Marv, Marengo, Mary Behaunek and husband, Dan, and Marlys Siefken and husband, Duane, all of Belle Plaine; his mother, Dorothy Becker, Belle Plaine; and his father and mother-in-law, Fred and Nadine Behaunek, Belle Plaine.
He was preceded in death by his father, Wilbert, and a nephew, Zachery Becker.
Hrabak Funeral Home, Belle Plaine, was in charge of the arrangements.

NORWAY: Grace Becker, 76, widow of John J. Becker, died Saturday morning, April 8, in St. Joseph's Mercy hospital in Centerville, IA
The daughter of Joseph and Mary McCoy Davis, she was born Sept. 21, 1901 at Fairfax. She was married to John J. Becker, April 10, 1921 at Fairfax. He died June 12, 1974. Mrs. Becker lived in Norway community for many years before moving to Moravia a year ago

He was married to Viola Schmidt Sept. 7, 1927. In 1930 he moved to Watkins living in this vicinity all his life

Halversons Funeral home, Blairstown, had arrangements. Rosary was said at 8:15 p.m. Saturday and Altar and Rosary Society said rosary at 8 p.m. Sunday

Blairstown—JoAnn Becker, age 79, died at her home in Blairstown Saturday morning, January 10, 2009, from cancer. Funeral services will be at the Blairstown Presbyterian Church at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 13, 2009 with Reverend George Bishop officiating. Visitation will be AT THE CHURCH from 4 to 7 pm on Monday, January 12. Interment will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Blairstown.
JoAnn Becker was born November 15, 1929 at Huron, SD, the daughter of Ronald and Mamie Sage Wodstrchill. Her family moved to Blairstown when she was a child. JoAnn attended school in Blairstown, graduating from Blairstown High School. On January 20, 1949 she married John Becker at the Presbyterian Church in Blairstown. He preceded her in death on January 25, 2000. JoAnn worked for many years at the Coon Creek Telephone Company. She was an active member of the Blairstown Legion Auxiliary and the Presbyterian Church where she served as an elder. JoAnn enjoyed making salsa with the vegetables she grew in her garden. She was also a baker, renowned for her butterscotch and apple pies.
JoAnn is survived by her son, Greg (Deanna) Becker; daughter, Nancy (H. Marion) Siek all of Blairstown; two sisters, Joyce (Hank) Kopf, of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Janet (Ralph) McBride, Marengo, IA; six grandchildren, Colette (Jason) Murphy, Derrick (Marcie) Becker, Jill Benesh, Lynnette (Scott) Frederick, H. Jason (Stacy) Siek, Alex Siek and ten great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Jack and Jim Wodstrchill and two sisters, Jean Hinton and Jane Pickart.
Memorials may be directed to the Blairstown Presbyterian Church.

JOHN BECKER, SR. PASSES AWAY
John Becker, Sr.
Was a Highly Respected Pioneer of Benton county
Last Sunday the people of Norway and vicinity were cast into a state of profound sorrow by the announcement that John Becker, Sr. died at 9 o'clock Saturday night.
Deceased was a devout member of St. Michael's catholic church and has always led an upright and honest life. He was a faithful and loving father, husband and friend and his death is sincerely mourned by many.
Deceased was born in Rosenbeck, Westfalia Germany and came to this country in 1861. At the time of his death he was 83 years years, 2 months old.
He is survived by a wife and six children. They are Lawrence, Chas., Joe, John, Jr., Mrs. Mike Gessner and Mrs. John Nolte, all of Norway.
The funeral was held Monday at 10:30 a. m., Rev. Drexler conducting the funeral obsequies. Interment was made in St. Michael's cemetery.
The Signal joins their many friends in extending sympathy to the bereaved relatives.

Lawrence Arthur "Larry" Becker Sr.
Lawrence Arthur "Larry" Becker Sr., 86, of Manor Care, formerly of Watkins, died Thursday morning, Dec. 22, 1994, in St. Luke's Hospital from complications of a stroke. Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4, St. Michael's Catholic Church, Norway, by the Rev. Walt Kleinfehn. His body has been cremated. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, at Peahen Funeral Home, where there will be a rosary recited at 6 and a prayer service at 7 p.m.
Survivors include his companion of many years, Joyce Langlas; a special niece, Ann O'Neill of Beaumont, Texas; a son, Larry Jr. of Reno, Nev; a sister, Alice Thompson of Watkins; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Peggy; and a sister, Bernadine Potter.
Born April 7, 1908, to Lawrence and Ellen Lanus Becker in rural Watkins, he attended Iowa State University. He married Margaret "Peggy" Morrison in 1935 in Sioux City. He farmed for many years in Benton County and, at the same time, worked at CRST. He was a member of Catholic Order of Foresters and St. Michael's Catholic Church in Norway. Larry was instrumental in establishing the Benton County Food Bank and worked for many years as a volunteer at Mercy Hospital after his retirement.
Honorary pall bearers will be Harold Becker, Roy Becker, Melvin Potter, Kevin Schultz, Orville "Bitz" Schultz and John Thompson, who were his special friends.

Louis C. Becker, 59, of rural Watkins, died Saturday after a long illness.
He was born on Nov. 19, 1927, in Watkins and married Mary O'Brien on April 11, 1951, in Newell. Mr. Becker farmed in the Watkins area. He was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, Newhall, and the Catholic Order of Foresters.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Greg, Gary and Matt, all of Watkins; a daughter, Lori Becker of Cedar Rapids; two brothers, George and Wilbert, both of Watkins; five sisters, Helen Boddicker and Ida Houser, both of Cedar Rapids, Hazel Schultz of Norway, Sister Mary Ann Becker of Denver, Colo., and Sister Marlys Becker of Sioux City; and five grandchildren.
Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday, St. Paul's Catholic Church, Newell, by the Revs. Vince Hatt and Paul Robert McDonald. Burial: S.S. Patrick and Paul Cemetery, Watkins. A prayer service will be held 7:30 p.m. Monday at Teahen Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids, where friends may call Monday from 1 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 8 to 9 a.m. A memorial fund has been established.

Born Sept. 25, 1900, in rural Norway, she was the daughter of James and Alice Harrington McLaughlin. She married Frank Becker Sept. 23, 1930 at Holy Trinity Church, Walford. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Norway, and the NWW Golden Age Club
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, July 25, 1961; three brothers, Bill, John and James; one sister, Gertrude Kelly

Robert G. Becker Funeral services for Robert G. Becker, 52, of Shellsburg, were Saturday, June 11, 2005, at Overton-VanSteenhuyse Funeral Home in Vinton with Brother Richard Johnson officiating. Burial was in Parkers Grove Cemetery in Shellsburg. Mr. Becker died June 7, 2005, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics from the result of an automobile accident. He is survived by his parents, Glenn and Shirley King Becker of Walker; his wife, Juanita of Shellsburg; a son, Joseph (Sandy) Kearns of Baltimore, MD; daughters, Carol (John) Gibbs of Vinton, and Julie (Scott) Rouse of Omaha, NE; sisters, Carole (Steve) Eldred of Center Point, and Karen (Paul) Enos of Walker; a son-in-law, Paul Hofer of Douds; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Services: 10 a.m. Friday, St. Michael's Catholic Church, Belle Plaine, by the Rev. Dwayne Thoman and Deacon J.C. Otto. Burial: St. Patrick and Paul Cemetery, Watkins. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Thursday at Hrabak Funeral Home, Belle Plaine, where there will be a rosary at 6 and vigil service at 7 p.m.
