Charles Warren Bascom, Once of Shellsburg, Dies
Charles (Charley) Warren Bascom
Palo- charles Warren bascom, 73, former Shellsburg resident died of a heart condition Friday night at University hospitals in Iowa City.
He was born Jan. 23 1893, at Polk City Mo., a son of Edgar and Sarah Dotson Bascom, and maried Alice Jett at Fair Play, Okla., on July 28, 1912, she preceded him in death June 26, 1962.
Surviving are three sons, Edward O. and Homer of Cedar Rapids and Jesse G of Shellsburg; two daughters, Mrs. Don (Dorothy) Boyles of Urbana and Mrs. E. L. Lucy of Independence, others, John of Palo and Albert of Newhall, 24 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today at Grace Trinity church with Rev. Cloyce Wentworth officiating. Burial was in Oakwood cemetery, Shellsburg.
Fry and Holland funeral home was in charge of arrangements.

Lucille Lint Bascom
VINTON- Lucille Lint Bascom dies following a sudden illness.
Lucille Lint Bascom, 68, died Tuesday morning, June 5, 1990 at Virginia Gay Hospital in Vinton following a sudden illness.
She was born Jan. 16, 1922, in Center Point, to Albert and Leona (Sanders) Lint. September 20, 1939, she married Glenn Bascom at Cedar Rapids.
She was employed for many years at Wilson Packing Company and was a member of the Rebekah Lodge.
She is survived by her husband, Glenn of Vinton; two daughters, Karen (Mrs. Marvin) Mettler of Arnolds Park, and Sue (Mrs. Tom) Harlelson of Shellsburg; seven grandchildren; six great-grand children; and one sister, Evelyn Kolsrud, Shellsburg.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Judy Bascom Howe.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 8, at the Phillips Funeral Home Chapel in Vinton, with Dr. Steve Minor of the Oak Grove Christian Church officiating. Interment will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Shellsburg.
