Phoebe Sophronia Ammerman
Phoebe Sophronia Babcock was born at Center Point, Iowa, April 26, 1858. She spent most of her life in Iowa and Dakota. She became a member of the Church of Christ when quite young; was married to Mr. James Ammerman October 17, 1876, To them eight children were born, four of whom preceded her to the better land. Those remaining are Arthur A. of Darfes, Minn., Alfred A., of Grogan, Minn, Sydna and Ida remaining at home. Four brothers and two sisters still live. They are D.A. Babcock of Truman, Minn., Eugene Babcock of Iowa City, Iowa, Charles and Nelson Babcock of near Brandon, Mrs. T.A. Geater of Urbana, Iowa; Mrs. A.R. French of Cedar Rapids. She died at Cedar Rapids, September 26, 1907. The funeral was held from the Bear Creek Church Sunday at 2 p.m. conducted by A.B. Elliott, of Vinton. Interment in Bear Creek Cemetery,
