The Urbana Savings Bank was organized in 1901 with the following officers: President: S. W. Whiteis
Vice President: T. H. Remer Cashier: F. A. Bryner Forty businessmen and farmers subscribed $12,000.00 in capitol stock. In 1915, the capitol and surplus was $31,000.00. The officers and directors were: President: John T. Hamilton
Vice President: H. C. O’Neal Cashier: T. H. Remer Cashier: Harry Rupp Cashier: L.L. Johnson Cashier: Wm. S. Hurd Cashier: Dr. W. R. Whiteis It was in 1915 that R. W. Remer began working at the Urbana Savings Bank and by 1920 was hired as cashier. Mr Remer later served as president as did his son, Vernon. In 1933, Franklin D. Roosevelt proclaimed a four-day bank holiday. The Urbana Savings Bank was the first Benton County bank that was released to do business as usual under Senate File 111. 1934 - Shellsburg Office established 1947 - Brandon Office established In 1949, John A. Suchomel was hired as assistant cashier until 1951, when he became cashier. 1951 -Capitol - $40,000
