Jacob P. Willford was born in Ohio in 1817, and is the son of D.C. and Susanna (Piper) Willford, both natives of Pennsylvania. He was reared to farming, which he followed in his native State until 1854, when he came to this country and settled on section 8, of Jackson Township, where he entered forty acres of land, purchasing an additional forty, making a farm of eighty acres, which he now has under good improvement.

Mr. Willford was married, in 1839, to Catherine Hoover, a native of Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of David and Elizabeth (Anderson) Hoover, natives of that State. It will be seen that Mr. Willford came to this country in its early settlement and consequently has been a witness to its many changes, always doing his share toward the advancement of every good work which would tend to benefit the community in which he has resided.
