GEORGE PETERS, deceased, was among the settlers of 1855. He was a native of Warwick, Lancaster Co., Pa., born in 1823. Mr. Peters was a man universally esteemed by all who knew him, and was for many years a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church, of which body his wife was also a member. His widow, who subsequently married Rev. Stephen Williams, and is again a widow, now resides in the city of Vinton.

Six children were born unto Mr. and Mrs. Peters — Sylvanus H., now engaged in the livery business in Vinton; Lizzie E., Reuben T., Calvin B., Amanda, John A.
