JOSIAH EATON, deceased, a native of Vermont, was born June 21, 1826, and was the son of Jeremiah and Olivia (Wright) Eaton, natives of the same State. At the age of twenty-four years our subject went to Illinois, stopping near Aurora, where he engaged in farming for six years, when he came to Benton County and settled in Cedar Township, where he bought land and lived one year, then removed to Jackson County, where he resided until his demise, at which time he owned 160 acres of land.
Mr. Eaton was married in 1860, to Eliza Watson, a native of Jefferson County, Ind., and the daughter of James and Betsey Watson. They became the parents of three children — Betsey O., James J. and Eliza E.
