R[obert] R. RICHARD, proprietor of the elevator and dealer in grain, residing at Garrison, came to this county in 1868 and located about three miles south of the village of Garrison, in Big Grove Tp., where he remained fifteen years. He then came to Garrison, rented an elevator and engaged in the grain trade. He was born in Armstrong County, Pa., in 1824, and is a son of Robert and Elizabeth (McClelland) Richard, both natives of Pennsylvania. He was reared on a farm and always engaged in tilling the soil until his removal to the village of Garrison. He has also a coal-yard and flour-and-feed store.
Mr. Richard was married in 1856 to Nancy Silvis, a native of Pennsylvania. They have two children — Albert, now living in Big Grove Township; and James A., engaged in the grain trade at Garrison.
Mrs. Richard departed this life in 1862, while the family were living in Rock Island, Ill., and our subject was again married, in 1882, to Elizabeth Coonse, a native of Ohio.Mr. Richard has held several local offices, among which are Township Trustee and member of the Village Council.
