R[obert] C. WALLACE, residing on section 11, Jackson Township, is a son of Robert and Rebecca (Ramsey) Wallace, and was born in Brooke County, W. Va. His father was a native of West Virginia, and his mother of Pennsylvania. They were the parents of eleven children, as follows: Mary, widow of Abram Scott, residing in Cherokee County, Iowa; Jane E., who married S. R. Moore; he died and she subsequently married G. F. Traer, who also died; Mrs. Traer now resides with the subject of this sketch; Sarah, wife of Thomas M. Finley, deceased; William, now living in Cedar Township; Margaretta, now the wife of W. M. Kirkpatrick, living near Pittsburgh, Pa.; Rebecca H., wife of David E. Martin, residing in Jackson Township; James R., a carpenter, now living in Mt. Auburn; R. C., the subject of this sketch; John S., who enlisted in Co. D, 28th Iowa Vol. Inf., served two years and died in the service; Martha E., wife of Rev. James Sawhill, of Winterset, Madison Co., Iowa; Isabel E., now the wife of Archibald St. Clair, of Mt. Auburn.
R. C. Wallace, the subject of this sketch, came to this county with his parents in 1856. He was brought up on a farm and has always followed the occupation of a farmer. He now owns a fine farm of 144 acres, in the management of which he has been very successful. Mr. Wallace is a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Jackson Township.
