His father is a native of Perry County, Ohio, born in December, 1824, and his mother of Vermont. They are residing in Vinton, having removed from Fremont, Ohio, in the spring of 1885. Irving Mitchell was reared in his native town and received a common-school education. In the spring of 1863 he enlisted in Co. H, 169th Ohio Vol. Inf.
