Obituary Abstracts of Parker's Grove Cemetery Burials
Section 28 of Canton Township, Benton County, Iowa

Although every effort has been taken to record the following information accurately, human error still exists. All data should be verified by you, the researcher.

You will notice that there are several instances of different dates between the cemetery transcription and the obituary abstracts. The only way to verify which date is correct is to obtain a copy of the obituary, photograph the headstone, and/or check courthouse records. I suggest doing all three. Please be aware that just because a name is listed in these transcriptions does not mean that a headstone still exists or ever was placed. As you verify names and dates, please consider sharing the information by submitting headstone photos to the Iowa Gravestone Photo Project and transcribed obituaries to the Benton County IAGenWeb Project.

Microfilms of Benton County newspapers are available at the Vinton Public Library, Blairstown Public Library, State Library of Iowa in Des Moines, the Iowa Genealogical Society in Des Moines and the State Historical Society of Iowa in Iowa City and Des Moines. All are listed in the Benton County resources.
