Volunteered, with about thirty others from North Washington, Penn., to prevent the rebels from making a raid into Pennsylvania from Antietam.

Has held the offices of the Township Clerk, Trustee, School Director and County Supervisor, the first elected in the town. Is a member of the I.O.O.F.
