GROVE CEMETERY

Grove Cemetery, Audubon County, Iowa

This is an abandoned cemetery located on Pheasant Place, 1/2 mile north of 325th Street, behind an old one room school house on property once owed by Trilby and Decima (Edwards) Akers. It was visited and photographed by Ken Akers in July, 2011. Ken found 8 grave markers toppled over, which he set upright, and 4 large bases. He found records of 9 persons inscribed on 8 stones. However there were also several pieces of unidentifiable concrete on the lot that might possibly have been grave markers at one time.

The stones were all on the northwest corner of the Grove Cemetery lot, and may have been moved to that corner at some point in time, possibly for farming reasons. Ken photographed all stones and submitted records to the Iowa Gravestones Photo Project.
