The Hilltown Christian Church was organized in 1868. The church building dates from 1889. Two acres of land was donated in 1851 by Hardin Guinn and Dr. G.S. Stansberry for the cemetery. Hilltown was originaly known as Pleasant View, and the post office was established in 1849 and called Wells Mills.
