1947 New Albin baseball team

The New Albin ball team of the Root River League of Southeastern Minnesota gained much publicity in the surrounding territory the past season due to their impressive record. The team had a record of 25 wins and 5 losses for the season, including inter-league games and all others.

1977 New Albin Indians Mississippi Valley League Champions

New Albin won their league title by beating Stoddard 7-0 in playoff action last Sunday. Manager Shooky Fink's club had a perfect 10-0 record in the Mississippi Valley League.

New Albin Indians Defeat Mudcats in 9-4 Ball Game Monday

New Albin defeated Lansing by the score of 9-4 Monday, getting eight unearned runs because of numerous errors committed by the Mudcats. Jim Sires scattered eleven Lansing hits and went the distance for the Indians.

New Albin’s 13-hit attack was led by Jeff Darling, with three hits in five trips to the plate. He drove in two runs. Bob Heiderscheit, Dave Crane, Jim Sires and Jerry Imhoff each had two hits for New Albin.

Jim Walleser, with three singles in four trips, led Lansing. Kevern Grant had two hits, one of them a home run. Dick Peters and Mark Rethwisch also had two n hits apiece for Lansing. Losing pitcher was Peters.

With the victory, New Albin’s record is now 4 and 1. It was the first league game for both teams.

In a 12-8 win over Rochester, Minn. Sunday, Bob Heiderscheit hit a three-run homer and added a run-scoring single to lead the 12-hit New Albin attack. Jim Sires and Jeff Fink each had three hits in four trips. Jeff Darling had two hits. Winning pitcher Dave Darling pitched six innings of excellent relief to pick up the win for the Indians.
