Allamakee Album

Ole and Margit were both born in Norway, but married in Allamakee County at Paint Creek Church (now Old East Paint Creek Lutheran Church) on April 13, 1851.

Ole died on December 10th, 1898 in Allamakee County.
Margit died September 19th 1916 in Waukonda, Clay co., South Dakota.

Both are buried in West Paint Creek Synod Cemetery, Center twp., east of Waukon.

Their Children:

Syver O. Leikvold, born March 4, 1852. Married Ragnild Hesla. Had four daughters, Inga, Marie, Lena, and Rosella. Syver and Ragnild lived and raised their children in Allamakee Co.. Syver died January 23, 1934.

Tollef Olaf Leikvold, born June 6, 1854. Married Elena Grangaard. Had seven children: Melvina, Charlotte, Odena, Olive, Melvin, Constance, and Elmore. Tollef and Elena lived and raised their family in South Dakota. Elena died in 1910 and Tollef married Selma Nelson in 1913. Tollef died on September 10, 1927.

Thorine 'Torina' O. Leikvold, born January 29, 1859. Married Ole Ellefson. Had ten children: Mallutta Ijodia, Margit, Oscar, Ovo, Clara M., Helmer, Clara H., Raymond Carl, and Hermod. Thorine and Ole lived and raised their family in South Dakota. Thorine died May 22, 1934.

Carl O. Leikvold, born January 5, 1863. Married Bertha Thompson. Had six children: Olvin, Mabel, Theodore, Mildred, Ruth, and Claus. Carl and Bertha lived and had their children in Allamakee Co., later moving the family to South Dakota. Carl died December 26, 1942.

Kari Leikvold, born October 8, 1865. Married Jacob A. Johnson. Had one daughter, Mildred. Kari and Jacob lived and raised their daughter in South Dakota. Kari died on July 31, 1897.

Nikolena 'Lena' Leikvold, born August 6, 1868. Married William Rood. Had six children: Paul, Martha K., Ove, Martha N., Eddie and Norman. Lena and William lived and raised their children in Allamakee Co. Lena died January 26, 1959.

Ragnild O. Leikvold, born February 19, 1871. Did not marry. Died on March 1, 1890 in Allamakee County.

Peter Leikvold, born June 12, 1873. Died on October 19, 1873.

Peter Leikvold, born May 5, 1875. Married Onne Bertina Belle Nelson in 1897. Had three daughters, Muriel, Marthal, and Marguerite. Onne died in 1902 and Peter married her sister Emma. They had one daughter Phyllis. Peter and Onne/Emma lived and raised their children in South Dakota. Peter died in 1961.

Melvin Oscar Leikvold, born March 26, 1879. Died on August 8, 1879.
