Des Moines in the Services

Des Moines women have completed basic training at the naval training school for WAVES, the Bronx, New York, and have received orders to report to various naval establishments throughout the nation. They are all seaman, second class. The list includes:

Anne Westergaard, 20, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. Westergaard, 503 Maxwelton drive, to yeoman school at Stillwater, Okla., for further instruction.

Des Moines WAVES, recent graduates of the yeoman school at Stillwater, Okla., have reported for duty at various naval establishments throughout the nation.

The new graduates and their stations are:

Verna J. Sampson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Sampson, 2706 Dean ave, to San Diego, Cal.

Anne Westergaard, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Westergaard, 503 Maxwelton drive, to San Francisco, Cal.

Anne G. Westergaard, yeoman, third class, and Georgia June Love, pharmacist's mate, third class, both recently were discharged from the WAVES at San Francisco, Cal.

Miss Westergaard Is Engaged

Mr. and Mrs. A Westergaard, 503 Maxwelton drive, announce the engagement of their daughter, Anne, and Arvid E. Bidne, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Bidne of Bricelyn, Minn.

Miss Westergaard was in the WAVES for 22 months and Mr. Bidne served 31 months in the Navy. Both are now attending St Olaf college in Northfield, Minn.

Anne Westergaard Becomes Bride of A.E. Bidne

The marriage of Miss Anne Westergaard, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. Westergaard, 503 Maxwelton drive, and Arvid E. Bidne of Bricelyn, Minn, took place Sunday at Central Lutheran church
