Eva Tibbetts in Women Marines

West High Teacher Accepted as Officer Candidate

Mrs. Eva Freer Tibbetts, 127 Maple street, girls' physical education instructor West High school, Thursday was waiting a call to active duty in the women's reserve of the U.S. marine corps, in which she was accepted as an officer candidate.

She expects to receive a call between March 15 and March 25 and will go to one of the two marine officers schools for women, which are located at Hunter college, New York, and Smith college, Northampton, Mass.

On graduation she will be a second lieutenant.

Mrs. Tibbetts is in her third year as a member of the West high faculty and is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Freer, Long Beach, Cal., who lived in Sheldon, Ia., until a short time ago.

Her husband, Sgt. Jack C. Tibbetts, is a member of the United States forces in North Africa. His home is at Algona, Ia.

Her successor has not been named.

Pvt. When she has completed her training she will be commissioned as a second lieutenant. Her husband, Sg. Jack C. Tibbetts, is in the army in North Africa.
