Helen G. Smith, daughter of Mr and Mrs W.E. Smith, Jesup, Ia, was sworn in Thursday as a member of the Waves in Des Moines. Miss Smith graduated from Gates Business college in 1942 and has been employed by the Rath Packing company. After a six weeks indoctrination training, she will enter specialized training for three months. Her station has not yet been announced.

Helen G. Smith, yeoman specialist second class, Waterloo Wave, is spending a 15-day leave here with her sister, Mrs. Robert J. Kambel, 323 1/2 East Ninth street, and with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.E. Smith of Jessup, Ia. She is stationed at Washington, D.C. ins a communications unit. While on leave she will also visit another sister, Mrs. Arthur Krueger, Grand Falls, Minn.
