Eleanor Rose Schilb

 

 

TO SERVE IN WAVES -- Miss Eleanor Schilb, owner and operator of Eleanor's Beauty Shop, 206 Sycamore street for the past three years, has enlisted in the WAVES and was given the service oath in Chicago on Monday. She expects to be called for training late in January and will be sent to Hunter college in New York.

Miss Schilb, whose home was formerly at Burlington, has been practicing her profession in Muscatine for the past 10 years.

REPORTS FOR DUTY -- Miss Eleanor Rose Schilb has completed her training in the WAVES at Hunter college, Bronx, New York, and has reported for duty in Washington, D.C.

Miss Schilb began her training January 27, 1944. Prior to that time she was owner of Eleanor's Beauty shop.

Eleanor Rose Schilb Denning was born Nov. 5, 1909 to John and Matilda Westerbeck Schilb. She died Oct. 21, 1918 and is buried in Prairie Grove Cemetery, West Burlington, IA.

Eleanor served with the U.S. Navy WAVES in World War II. She was married to Conrad P. “Cooney" Denning.
