WAVE On Leave Will Meet With Friends Tonight

Miss Maxine Mary Sadel, Ha2-c of the WAVES, who is stationed at the U.S. naval base at Corpus Christi, Tex., is spending a leave visiting her mother, Mrs. Ethel Ballenger, 120 West Second street.

Miss Sadel, enlisted in the WAVES, April 7, 1943 and received her preliminary training at Hunter college, New York City before being sent to the naval hospital at Corpus Christi for advance training.

She met a group of friends at the Y.W.C.A. this afternoon between 2 and 4:30 and will meet others this evening at the Y.W.C.A. between 7 and 8 o'clock.

Some of the equipment issued to her by the WAVES was on display this afternoon and will remain this evening.

Sadel Brothers, Sister Serving

Three members of the Sadel family are now in service with the navy. Maxine Sadel, Ph. M. 3/c, enlisted with the WAVES in April, 1943. She received her boot training at Hunter College, N.Y., and since that time has been stationed at Kingsville, Tex. She has the following address: Maxine M. Sadel, Ph.M. 3/c, U.S. N. A. A. S., Dispensary, Kingsville, Tex.

Arthur Richard Sadel, S 1/c, entered the service in July, 1943, and has been in New Guinea the past few months.

Harold E. Sadel, S 2/c, has returned to Farragut, Ida., after spending a 15 day leave at the home of his wife, Mrs. Lily Sadel, 317 Burnside avenue.

They are the daughter and sons of Mrs. Ethel Ballanger, 1201/2 West Second street and Edward Sadel of Letts.

Maxine Mary Sadel Buttgen was born Mar. 16, 1923 to Edward and Ethel Steinmetz Sadel. She died Aug. 6, 2014 and is buried in Memorial Park Cemetery, Muscatine, IA. She served with the U.S. Navy in World War II.

She was married to Francis Ellis “Frank" Buttgen. Frank also served with the U.S. Navy in World War II.
