TWO MUSCATINE OFFICERS MEET ON LONDON VISIT

Two Muscatine officers met in England recently at a bureau for the location of servicemen in London while looking for the address of each other. Lt. William Narvis, son of Major C. S. Narvis, of Des Moines, called at the information desk for the address of Lt. Ruth Romann, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Romann, 1092 Hershey avenue, and met her at the desk where she was asking for his address.

Lt. Romann is serving with the Army Nurses Corps at a general hospital in England. She has been overseas since July. Lt. Narvis has been with the Army air corps in England for several months.

The couple spent two days leave sight seeing in London.

Ruth Romann Is Given Rank of First Lieutenant

The 102nd General Hospital, England—Ruth M. Romann of 1092 Hershey avenue, nurse in charge of a medical ward at this United States Army general hospital in England, has been promoted to the rank of first lieutenant.

A graduate of Muscatine high school, she took her nurse’s training at the Michael Reese hospital, Chicago, and followed her profession there until she joined the Army Nurse Corps in May, 1944. After basic training at Camp McCoy, Wis., during which she became familiar with army hospital routine, she was assigned to this organization at Camp Grant, Ill.

Lt. Romann is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Romann of the Hershey avenue address.

Nurses who returned on the Queen Mary were Lt. Ruth Romann, Muscatine; Second Lt. Vera M. Peters, Spragueville; Lt. Lorraine Harberts, Grundy Center, and Lt. Rita M Niles, Remsen, all of Iowa.

CITY NEWS.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Smith of Tampa, Fla., are the parents of a son born Tuesday night in a hospital in Tampa. Mrs. Smith is the former Miss Ruth Romann of Muscatine, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Romann.

Ruth Marie Romann was born Oct. 22, 1921 to Ralph Edward and Minnie Mary Shoultz Romann. She died Feb. 3, 2017 in OH.

Ruth served in World War II.
