Pvt. Rosie P. Rife

 

DAVENPORT GIRL AT WAC CENTER -- Members of the first contingent of recruits in the All-States Division from Iowa are now in basic training at the Third WAC Training Center, Fort Oglethorpe, Ga. On a Saturday afternoon off the group gathers at the Service Club where they play and sing popular tunes along with the "G.I." songs they have learned since their arrival at the training center. Seated at the piano are Pvt. Wanda Dooley of Marshalltown (left), Pvt. Helen M. Davis, Davenport, and Pvt. Rosie P. Rife, Moscow. Standing with the group is Pvt. Alvera Johnson of Rowan.

BACK ON DUTY -- Pvt. Rosie P Rife, has returned to Camp Upton, N.Y., to resume her duties after spending a 10-day furlough with friends and relatives. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Rife of Moscow.

Pvt. Rife received her basic training at Fort Oglethorpe, Ga., and her present address is: Pvt. Rosie P. Rife, Army postal section, Camp Upton, N.Y.

Rosie Pearl Rife Hagge was born Feb. 3, 1923 to Charles and Ella Steffen Rife. She died July 25, 1995 and is buried in Durant Cemetery, Durant, IA.

Sgt. Rife served with the U.S. Army in World War II. She was married to Henry Christian Hagge. Sgt. Henry Rife served with the U.S. Army in World War II.
