Capt. Shirley M. Rierson

Army Nurse Corps

Shirley Maxine Rierson was born Apr. 22, 1914 to John A. and Bessie Espe Rierson.

She received her nurses’ training in St. Lukes hospital at Chicago, IL and held the position of surgical supervisor. She joined a medical unit from Northwestern university and was sent to North Africa as a second lieutenant. In 1945 Capt. Rierson was flown back to the states from duty on Italian battlefronts with the army nurse corps having been relieved of duty at the 12th general hospital in Italy after 26 months of overseas service.

She married Norman Charles Eulberg. He was a 1st Lt. with the 508 Fighter Group, Army Air Force in World War II. They are both buried at the Golden Gate National Cemetery, San Bruno, CA.
