Another Group of Tri-City Girls Entering the WAVES

Nineteen more were sworn into the WAVES yesterday at the Hotel Blackhawk, making a total of 111 tri-city women who have chosen this branch of the service to help win the war.

One group is already at Hunter college n New York. The majority will leave on Aug. 26 fot he east, and still another group will leave on Sept. 9.

Brooklyn Assignment for Davenport WAVE

Virginia R. Fleming petty officer, third class, USNR, has been transferred to the British Advisory Commission in the Brooklyn naval and dock yards, Brooklyn, N.Y. Previous to this Miss Fleming was in the accounting department of the navy yard, where one of the largest payrolls in the world is handled.

Previous to her enlistment in the WAVES on Aug 13, 1943, Officer Fleming made her home with her sister, Mrs. Philip Sanders, 3240 Pansy avenue, Davenport. She received her training at Hunter college.
