Ruth Evelyn Denning Mertens was born Nov. 7, 1921 to Joseph James and Nellie Freesmeier Denning. She died Nov. 11, 2015 and is buried in Saint Johns Cemetery, Houghton, IA.
Ruth served in World War II with the U.S. Navy WAVES-SPARS in Des Moines. She was married to Adrian H.”Mert" Mertens.
