Lt. (jg) Sarah Dawson

 

 

 

Miss Sarah Dawson, yeoman third class, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Dawson, 1211 Twenty-first st., has been selected as an officer candidate in the WAVES. She left the first of this week for indoctrination at the naval training school at Northampton, Mass.  Yeoman Dawson has been stationed at the midshipman’s school at Chicago, Ill.  Her mother is president of the Des Moines WAVES Mothers Club.

Three Des Moines WAVES were commissioned ensigns recently upon completion of officer training at Northampton, Mass. All are graduates of the State University of Iowa and hold bachelor of arts degrees. They are:

Miss Elizabeth Anne Harvey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Harvey, 1408 E. Thirty-third st.; Miss Sarah Ellen Dawson, daughter of Mrs. Jennie K. Dawson, 1211 Twenty-first st.; and Miss Margery Hargrove, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Hargrove, 518 Fifty-eighth st.

Des Moines in the Services

Lt. (j.g.) Sarah E. Dawson, daughter of Mrs. Jennie K. Dawson, 1211 Twenty-first st., and Marcella B. DeCarlo, yeoman, third class, daughter of Mrs. Edith Bougsty, 3819 Second ave., were discharged from the WAVES at Washington, D.C.
