TWO ENLIST IN WAVES

Annabelle Ruth Claussen, Reinbeck, Ia. and Mrs. Dorothy Clouse Brandt, Hudson, Ia., were sworn into the Waves in Des Moines Wednesday are are awaiting transfer to Hunter college, new York. Applications for enlistment had been field at the navy recruiting station in the basement of the federal building, Waterloo late in July.

Shell Rock -- Mr. and Mrs. Frank Clouse received a letter from their son-in-law, Lester J. Brandt, electrician's mate third class aboard a transport in the south Pacific, that he was in the invasion at Leyte. He enlisted in the navy Aug 27, 1943. His wife, the former Dorothy Clouse, enlisted in the WAVES Aug 25, 1943 and now is working in the marine detachment office at Oakland, Cal.

Shell Rock -- Wave Dorothy Clouse Brandt, yeoman third class USN, arrived home Thursday night from San Francisco, Cal., where she had been stationed in the communications office at Hunters Point the last year. She has received an honorable discharge and will make her home with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Clouse for the duration. Her husband, Lester J. Brandt, electrician's mate third class, is aboard a navy transport somewhere in the Pacific.

Dorothy I. Clouse Brandt was born Aug. 27, 1917 to Frank K. and Anna B. Meyer Clouse.

Dorothy served with the U.S. Navy in World War II at Hunters Point, CA. She was married to Lester J. Brandt.
