Lt. Bramer landed in Normandy six days after the invasion as chief nurse, hospitalization unit, with the 13th field hospital, and was with the Army in France, Belgium, and Germany.  Her citation reads that she displayed outstanding professional nursing skill and devotion to duty, despite trying field conditions and exposure to enemy artillery fire.
