Iowa Falls Red Cross Worker Is in North Africa

Iowa Falls -- Miss Geraldine Gilbert, who recently was accepted by the Red Cross as a recreational worker in foreign service, has reached north Africa, according to a letter received by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. T.A. Gilbert.

In a letter written on board ship. Miss Gilbert said the eight Red Cross workers were busy assisting the chaplain in arranging services for the men, and in providing entertainment. A hill-billy band had been recruited and a number of deck shows were provided.

Miss Gilbert taught kindergarten in Iowa Falls for a number of years and recently was assistant to the director of a U.S.O. center in Denver, Colo.

Iowa Falls -- Miss Geraldine Gilbert, who has been a hospital worked for the American Red Cross in north Africa and Italy for the past two years, is spending a few weeks with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. A. Gilbert.

Iowa Falls -- Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St Matthew's Episcopal Church for Geraldine Gilbert, 63, who died Sunday at the Ellsworth Municipal Hospital. Burial will be in Union Cemetery.

Miss Gilbert, a lifelong resident of Iowa Falls, was active in Red Cross work 21 years and served in Europe, Africa and Panama.

She is survived by her mother, Mrs. T. A. Gilbert, Iowa Falls.
