Sgt. Rudolph Edward Zagar

 

 

Prisoner of Japs.

SLATER, IA. – Pvt. (f. c.) Rudolph E. Zager of the marine corps has been reported a prisoner of the Japanese.  He was reported missing last May after the fall of Corregidor.  Private Zagar is the son of T. Slager of Slater, and the grandson of Mrs. F. Abramovich, 1800 Searle st., Des Moines.

Rudolph Edward Zagar was born Nov. 21, 1921 to Anton and Mary Abromovich Zagar. He died Feb. 4, 1999 and is buried in Slater Cemetery, Slater, IA.

Sgt. Zagar served in World War II with the U.S. Marine Corps 4th Marines, participating in defense of the Philippine Islands and became a Japanese POW from May 6, 1942 to Dec. 16, 1945.
