Cpl. Albert Sytsma

 

 

 

Mr. and Mrs. Abe McCombs were in Oskaloosa Sunday afternoon attending a Memorial service at the Christian church, honoring Corp. Albert Sytsma.  He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Sytsma of Fremont, former residents of the Bussey community.  Corp. Sytsma, a nephew, of Mr. McCombs, was killed in action October 17, 1944, in Italy.  He has three brothers in service.

Albert E. Sytsma was born June 21, 1914 to Albert and Sarah Louella McCombs Sytsma. He died Oct. 17, 1944 and is buried in Porter Grove Cemetery, Harvey, IA.

Cpl. Sytsma served in World War II with the U.S. Army Infantry Headquarters Co., 1st Battalion, 133rd Infantry and was KIA in Italy.
