Lt. Bruce A. McKern

 

 

 

Bruce A. McKern was born Apr. 14, 1922 to Eugene D. and Coza Miranda Dooley McKern. He died Feb. 22, 1945 and is memorialized at Ardennes American Cemetery and Memorial, Neuville, Belgium.

Lt. McKern served with the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II with the 310th Squadron, 315th Squadron Air Transport Group. He was a crew member aboard a C-47 (Skytrain) which departed from Spanhoe, England to pick up a glider elsewhere in England and tow it to a station north of Orleans, France. The plane had engine trouble and failed to reach its destination. He was initially declared MIA, later presumed dead.
