Sgt. Henry Raymond Mahoney

 

 

GETS DISCHARGE

Henry R. Mahoney has returned to this city following his recent medical discharge from the armed services. Mahoney, a master sergeant in charge of general mess No. 1 at Kelly Field, San Antonio, Texas, was discharged from the hospital at that base.

The Webster City serviceman left here in February, 1941, with Company E, Iowa National Guard, but was assigned to duty in the U. S., not going overseas with the balance of the company. A veteran of 25 1/2 years with the National Guard, Mahoney has spent eight years of that time in federal service.

Henry Raymond Mahoney was born Nov. 8, 1894 to Florence James and Elizabeth M. ‘Lizzie’ Hart Mahoney. He died Apr. 17, 1952 and is buried in Graceland Cemetery, Webster City, IA.

Sgt. Mahoney served in Squadron B, 4121st AAF Base Unit, Kelly Field, TX and was an officer with Co. E, 133rd Infantry, 34th Division Iowa National Guard.
